Sony Pictures Classics has preemptively acquired all domestic rights to Lawrence Kasdan’s Darling Companion from production company Werc Werk Works, it was announced today by Sony Pictures Classics and Werc Werk Works CEO Elizabeth Redleaf. Darling Companion is written by Meg Kasdan and Lawrence Kasdan and directed by Lawrence Kasdan. It stars Kevin Kline, Diane Keaton, Dianne Wiest, Richard Jenkins, Elisabeth Moss, Mark Duplass, Ayelet Zurer and Sam Shepard. The film is produced by Anthony Bregman for Likely Story, Lawrence Kasdan for Kasdan Pictures and Elizabeth Redleaf for Werc Werk Works....

Disney has offered a formal response to the recent controversy related to their upcoming remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Reimagining the classic animate movie in a live-action setting, the new Snow White movie came under fire by Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage during a recent interview on Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast. Dinklage said it made “no sense” how Disney would be progressive to an extent by casting Rachel Zegler as Snow White while ignoring the larger problem with the titular dwarfs....

Anne Heche has been declared legally dead, and the news has many of her contemporaries in Hollywood in mourning. On Aug. 5, Heche had been involved in a fiery automobile accident that left her in critical condition. A week later, it was announced that she is brain dead, though Heche remains on life support to preserve her organs for possible donations. Among those mourning the loss is Ellen DeGeneres, who was previously in a relationship with Heche that lasted from 1997 to 2000....

Ahead of its wide release in theaters in June, Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis has already been drawing some high praise from those who’ve caught early screenings. The Good A cool movie that keeps the franchise alive. The Bad It was hard not to know what was gonna happen next.In Fast & Furious the original cast featuring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster returns. While everything is a bit more supersized this time around, there was enough of the cool aspect of the first movie to keep this high octane thrillride interesting. As you may recall, at the end of the first movie, Dominic Toretto (Diesel) leaves Los Angeles and Brian O’Conner (Walker) basically lets him go....

SPOILER ALERT, BE FOREWARNED Start your engines, again, for the fourth sequel in the “Fast and Furious” franchise. This time around the track we get the original cast reprising their roles in a new story. I was an extreme skeptic about this film, but it actually does well with the cars and the action. The film begins with Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) killed in a car accident during a supposed drug run....

Fox has picked up rights to John Twelve Hawks’ sci-fi book series, the Fourth Realm Trilogy, and has attached Watchmen co-writer Alex Tse to adapt. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first book, titled “The Traveler” and published in 2006, is set in a U.S. society run by a secret organization seeking to control the population via constant observation. Seeking to rebel against these constraints are an almost extinct group of people called Travelers, who can project their spirit into other dimensions, and their protectors, called Harlequins....
