The Star Trek universe is ready to boldly go where it has never gone before. CBS All Access has announced the premiere date for Star Trek: Lower Decks, a new animated comedy that was originally announced back in October 2018. The new series will premiere on Thursday, August 6. The show was developed by Emmy-winner Mike McMahan, known for his work on Rick and Morty and Solar Opposites. While a Star Trek animated show aired in the 70s, this looks to be taking the franchise in an entirely new direction....

Fox Searchlight Pictures and The Weinstein Company have aligned with one another to create a joint acquisitions agreement for the worldwide distribution rights to La Misma Luna the directorial debut feature from Patricia Riggen. TWC and Fox Searchlight will share equally in the film’s worldwide revenues and the two companies are currently discussing which entity will distribute in which territory worldwide, based on their respective resources and desires. The joint announcement was made by Peter Rice, president of Fox Searchlight and Harvey Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company....

Fox has made amends for the Star Wars anamorphic widescreen fiasco. Sort of. In an article from The Digital Bits, it seems that Fox France has confirmed that the original versions of A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi are in fact going to be released there in the widescreen anamorphic format. The Criminal Minds revival is a success. Criminal Minds: Evolution, which essentially serves as the 16th season of Criminal Minds, premiered on Paramount+ in November. Per Deadline, the series quickly became one of the streaming platform’s top five original shows with fans tuning in en masse to eat up the new episodes. Ahead of the season finale’s arrival on Feb. 9, it was announced that the show has now been officially renewed for season 2 with plans to start filming later this year....

Blockbuster was a juggernaut in the ’90s for video and game rentals. The highly-anticipated reboot of DuckTales is coming later this year and they decided to bring a brand new clip from the series, which is everything you would want it to be and then some. Not only that, but it has been confirmed that Darkwing Duck is joining the DuckTales revival....

Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx will next slay vampires on Netflix in the upcoming action flick, Day Shift, which has now been officially given an R rating. The Motion Picture Association rating board (via filmratings.com) has awarded Day Shift an R rating for “strong violence and gore, and language,” meaning that the movie will not shy away from the dark and bloody aspects of vampire slaying. Alongside the promising rating, it has also now been revealed that Day Shift will land on Netflix later this year on August 12....
