Screenwriter Dan Gilroy has signed on to pen The Annihilator (working title) for Magic Storm Entertainment. Eric Mika, the company’s CEO, announced today that Gilroy, represented by CAA, would introduce a new Stan Lee superhero of Chinese heritage to global audiences with the company’s first film project. Based on an original Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment treatment acquired by Magic Storm Entertainment, the story chronicles a young man who is given a second chance as an international superhero and returns home to mete out justice....

DreamWorks Studios has launched a nationwide casting search to fill a lead role in its upcoming movie Real Steel, it was announced today by DreamWorks Studios. Actors interested in the role have two ways to audition. Beginning immediately, individuals can submit a videotaped audition through RealSteelCasting.com. Additionally, two open call auditions will be held starting on Sunday, February 14, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois and then on Saturday, February 20, 2010 in New York, New York....

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is confident that Black Adam and Superman will cross paths in the DCEU. The San Andreas star appeared on the cover of Total Film magazine’s latest edition and thus has been quite vocal lately about his upcoming DCEU anti-hero movie Black Adam. After spending decades in development hell, the new movie The Loneliest Boy in the World is finally getting its release this week. In light of the recently announced strike by The Writers Guild of America, FOX has revised its lineup for January and the remainder of the 2007-2008 season. According to Variety, Futurama may live to see the year 3000 after all. Talks have begun at 20th Century Fox TV to revive the animated skein, which takes place in the next millennium, much in the same way Family Guy found new life after cancellation. The studio is in early discussions to put Futurama back in production and create a limited number of episodes of the Emmy Award-winning skein – although it’s too soon to tell where those segs might end up....

Just hours after this Sunday’s Game of Thrones episode leaked online, HBO is dealing with yet another cyber-security breach, this time revolving around social media. A notorious hacker group known as OurMine managed to take over the Twitter and Facebook accounts for Game of Thrones, along with the social media accounts for HBO and HBO NOW. There isn’t said to be any extensive damage such as data leaks, and it isn’t believed that this is connected to the ongoing HBO hack that has resulted in the leak of Game of Thrones scripts, episodes of Ballers and Room 104, and personal data of Game of Thrones stars....

At long last, HBO has released a full-length trailer for Game of Thrones season 8. Previously, the network had released a teaser trailer that didn’t give much in the way of action. Rather, it was more of a tense character piece. We’ve also seen bits and pieces of footage in various promos, but this is far and away the best look we’ve got at the series’ upcoming conclusion. And it certainly looks like it’s going to be an epic conclusion at that....

The story revolves around a young man who attempts suicide, but when he fails he finds himself being haunted by four ghosts who demand that their final wishes be granted.
