End of the Line, the award-winning documentary from Emmett Adler, is preparing for its wide release in the United States on June 14. Premiering to sold-out audiences at DOC NYC, the film is a character-driven political drama that does a deep dive into the New York City subway crisis and calls for a long-overdue reckoning on infrastructure. FX network recently purchased the cable rights to five unreleased motion pictures from Sony’s Columbia Pictures, which are Vantage Point starring Dennis Quiad and Matthew Fox, The Pineapple Express starring Seth Rogan, Step Brothers starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, 21 starring Kevin Spacey and The International starring Clive Owen. According to Variety, the deal also includes these three other released films: Walk Hard, Untraceable and We Own the Night....

Next month, fans will return to Westeros with Game of Thrones Season 7, which has been confirmed as the second to last season, which will span seven episodes. It was also recently confirmed that the final season will only span six episodes, but there was never a concrete premiere date intact. Most fans merely assumed that the final season will air at some point in 2017, with filming most likely taking place this fall, but that may not be the case....

When it comes to taking over the mantle of Captain America, Anthony Mackie has the daunting task of taking over from long-time Cap Chris Evans, who played the role of Steve Rogers throughout the MCU. When Evans stepped away from the role in the culmination of the Infinity Saga, it was clear that a new Captain America would be coming. That seemed to be Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, but it took the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to see the character become the new Captain America....

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, it looks like “Columbia Pictures is bringing Katherine Kurtz’s Deryni Rising to the big screen.” The screenplay, written by Alex Sabeti, was picked up for a six-figure deal and will be produced by Jimmy Miller under “his Mosaic banner.” Sabeti is also on board as an executive producer. Deryni Rising “is a historical fantasy novel first published in 1970 that launched Kurtz’s Deryni Kingdom series that, almost 40 years later, encompasses five trilogies, short stories and reference books....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Richard Pryor, who confronted racial and class taboos with edgy, brash humor in the 1970s and ’80s, suffered a heart attack Saturday at his home in the San Fernando Valley and died at a local hospital. He was 65. He had been ill for years with multiple sclerosis. During a wildly up-and-down career, Pryor cut more than 20 comedy albums and enjoyed a movie career of nearly 40 films that included a number of boxoffice hits, such as Stir Crazy, Silver Streak, Greased Lightning, Which Way Is Up and Brewster’s Millions as well as the outspoken 1979 concert film, Richard Pryor: Live in Concert....

Ghostbusters: Afterlife released an international trailer recently and with it came a doubling down on the nostalgic feel that the movie brings as we were delivered deep into the Gozer mythology of the original 1984 comedy horror film that started the franchise. With an extended look at the return of the Terror Dogs, more clips of the mini Stay Puft Marshmallow men and some new images of the underground Temple of Gozer, the many comments saying that the film delivers in fan service seem to be pretty accurate so far....

The Good A bitingly brilliant and disturbing film. The Bad I wish they would have included the script for this movie in DVD-Rom form on this disc. CSA: The Confederate States of America is done as if an hour and a half of Tivo has been recorded and then put on DVD. Quite simply, this movie looks at what might have happened if the South had won the Civil War. It takes you through the history of America, decade by decade, and culminates in covering the political aspirations of a white candidate who becomes disgraced for a reason I will not giveaway here....

The official poster for Weird: The Al Yankovic Story has arrived. Coming to The Roku Channel in November, the bizarre biopic feature Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe in the role of the most famous song parodist of all time. The poster features Radcliffe as Yankovic with an accordion in hand as he descends upon Hollywood, ready to rock by poking fun at the most popular songs of the era. Eric Appel directed the film and wrote the screenplay with “Weird Al” Yankovic....

Writer/director David Ondaatje is remaking The Lodger, the 1927 silent film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, based on the novel of the same name by Marie Adelaide Lowndes, about a fictional version of the Jack The Ripper killings. According to Production Weekly, Ondaatje’s contemporary adaptation of The Lodger, will have two converging plotlines; the first centered around the relationship between a paranoid landlord and her tenant coinciding with a spate grisly neighborhood murders: and the second involving the personal and professional struggles of a troubled detective as he tries to catch the elusive killer....

At Disney’s D23 Expo, it was announced that there would be a fourth Descendants movie. Descendants was a Disney Channel original movie musical that came out in 2015. It was dolled by a sequel in 2017 and another in 2019. Made in the same vein as spiritual predecessors Camp Rock and High School Musical, like the latter, the first three films were made by choreographer and director Kenny Ortega. The series follows the offspring of the various Disney heroes and villains....
