The X-Men have endured their fair share of cinematic struggles over the years. The rights to the titles were coveted by 21st Century Fox in the early 90s and the franchise was one of the first major superhero movie series in the modern era. Being acquired by another studio meant they were isolated from the reaches of Marvel Studios and the growing Marvel Cinematic Universe. There was the attempt to create an abridged version of a cinematic universe pertaining to the rights that 21st Century Fox had claimed as their own, though the result of trying to carefully avoid triggering a legal battle over character rights and intellectual property was more blunderous than it was supposed to be....

Season 4B of Fear the Walking Dead is all set to return with the final 8 episodes of the season on August 12th, and AMC has released some new pictures from the show that tease what the second half of Season 4 will have in store. Both Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead will have a big presence at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which is this week. AMC’s hit shows will be taking over Hall H on Thursday July 19th, starting at 11:15 AM Pacific Time along with an official fan zone that will offer an immersive experience for fans....

Today ABC announced their full 2010-2011 primetime schedule, with 10 brand new shows that will debut on the network this season. The network has now released the first official trailers for the six new dramatic series’ Body of Proof, Detroit 1-8-7, My Generation, No Ordinary Family, Off the Map and The Whole Truth. FOX has placed new classroom quiz show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? on the honor roll by ordering an additional 13 episodes. The record-breaking ratings hit, hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy, is the No. 1 new series of the season. Mayans M.C. will have to continue on without its co-creator Kurt Sutter. FX has fired the showrunner and creator of Sons of Anarchy. According to Sutter in a letter he wrote to the cast and crew, he was fired for being an “abrasive dick.” Sources close to the matter say there have been “multiple complaints” as a result of his behavior on the hit drama series. Interestingly enough, Sutter’s overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV has not been affected by his firing from the series....

Fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones just might have to wait a little bit longer to see the final season in 2019, according to visual effects supervisor Joe Bauer. Though an official premiere date has not been announced, many believed that the massively popular show would be returning in April 2019. However, it now looks like winter has been pushed back to as far as June 2019, which could end up stressing a lot of fans out who were preparing for an April return of their favorite show....

Just days before Game of Thrones Season 6 debuted in April, HBO made the unsurprising move to issue a Season 7 renewal for the hit series. The network didn’t confirm whether or not that would be the final season, but series creators/showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss teased just a few days before this renewal that there would only be 13 episodes of Game of Thrones left after Season 6, hinting that both Season 7 and possibly Season 8 would both be shorter than the first six seasons, which have each run 10 episodes apieace....

Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass seems to be moving along quickly through production, and it looks to be an excellent translation from comic into film. A scooper managed to get a shot from the set where they appeared to be shooting the opening sequence from the film, and they posted it over to /Film. The next Captain America sequel is moving forward after securing its director, but do not count on seeing Chris Evans back in the lead role. Recently, it was reported that Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) had been tapped to helm the upcoming feature. A tweet by THR added that it was unclear if Evans would be back as the first Captain America in Captain America 4, and this caught the attention of Evans....

It’s official. Battle: Los Angeles director Jonathan Liebesman has signed on to direct Warner Bros. upcoming sequel Clash of the Titans 2, according to Heat Vision Blog. We reported back in June that Jonathan Liebesman was one of the directors being considered to replace original Clash of the Titans director Louis Leterrier. The site reports that negotiations had been ongoing throughout the summer and that they hope to overcome the negative reactions to the first film, despite its $491 million worldwide gross....

It is not uncommon for a movie to follow up principal photography with a series of reshoots, which usually capture shots that were missed or not exactly as intended when it comes to putting the final film together. While this is mostly seen in big budget action movies, or films that go through a number of story changes during filming, it appears that even a movie as seemingly simple as Kevin Smith’s Clerks III can’t avoid some additional filming....

Clerks, arriving in 1994, was a cultural phenomenon for American cinema. Using what was available at his job at a convenience store, the indie artiste and smut merchant Kevin Smith made a low-budget but game-changing film highlighting the lives of nobodies wasting their 20s in a store, selling cigarettes and talking about the politics of Star Wars. Two years later, Texan native Richard Linklater would release his own 20-something car lot loitering feature in SubUrbia (based on the play of the same name, written by Eric Bogosian, who also pens the screenplay)....

There was something of a muted reaction to the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law reveal of Skaar, aka the son of the Incredible Hulk. This was for a couple of reasons. First, the reveal in the season finale was kind of thrown in with no preamble or follow-up, with the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) having zoomed off in a spaceship in the second episode only to drop in with his offspring for a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance....

A brand new extended clip from Repo! The Genetic Opera! has been debuted by Lionsgate, courtesy of MTV. Since it seems Emma is an independent teenage girl with an anger management counselor as her father, I asked if there were a lot of rapid-fire dialogue scenes between her and Charlie. “She’s just a sweet girl. She’s really, really close with Charlie’s character. Her parents are divorced, Shawnee Smith plays my mom. So far, from what I’ve read, she spends a lot of time at both houses, but she’s really close with Charlie....

SCI FI Wire caught up with Batman Begins screenwriter David Goyer, who said that he is working on an updated version of David Cronenberg’s classic Sci-fi horror film Scanners. Goyer will expand on the 1981 original and place it in the context of current events. “One of the … things that’s also great about Scanners was the fact that Cronenberg embeds so much subtext into his stories … So we’ve tried to keep the spirit of that and kind of transpose that into a post-9/11 world, if you can imagine what scanners would be involved in in that kind of world....

The Devil Wears Prada director David Frankel will serve as the guest judge beside regulars Carrie Fisher and Garry Marshall on the moviemaking competition series On the Lot Tuesday, June 12 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. The remaining 15 director finalists have been divided into three groups of five. Last week, the first group of five director finalists - Sam Friedlander, Hilary Graham, Trever James, Shalini Kantayya and Adam Stein - each premiered a film that he or she wrote, shot and edited in five days....

The multi award-winning team of Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey join forces with The Walt Disney Studios to set-up a new performance capture film company, it was jointly announced by Dick Cook, chairman, The Walt Disney Studios and producer/director Robert Zemeckis. The company will create films using the performance capture technology, a technique of digitally recording actors’ movements that are fed into a computer allowing for the development of state-of-the-art 3D motion pictures....
