It’s official: the Friday the 13th franchise is getting a revival, this time as a streaming series on Peacock. It was recently reported that Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) is on board to write and serve as showrunner on Crystal Lake, a series set in the years before the original Friday the 13th series. Because of the legal battle over the rights to the series, the original report also stated that Crystal Lake could only acknowledge elements featured in the first Friday the 13th film....

HBO Max has recently announced that it has ordered The Big Brunch, which is a new unscripted cooking competition series from Dan Levy and Boardwalk Pictures, the multimedia production company behind the Netflix hits Chef’s Table, Street Food, and Cheer. This news comes immediately after his father, and Schitt’s Creek co-star Eugene Levy was also getting into the unscripted television game with a travel series with Apple. Dan Levy, who has won numerous awards as both an actor and writer for the popular comedy series Schitt’s Creek, has created the culinary competition show, which is currently slated to premiere sometime next year....

Francis Lawrence has been hard at work on developing the upcoming BioShock adaptation. The feature film will be headed to Netflix, although details surrounding the project are still scarce. The director recently sat down with Collider, sharing his plans for the film and his love for the video games from which the adaptation stems. “First of all, I think it’s one of the best games ever created,” Lawrence says. “It’s also, I think, one of the most visually unique games ever created....

For a long while, there have been a number of rumors that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would be one of the longest movies in the entire Marvel franchise, but with tickets about to go on sale, new information has suggested that those expecting a bladder busting epic runtime are going to be slightly disappointed. The film has been listed on a number of sites previously with lengths of 148 minutes, 136 minutes and other times in between, but the official time seems to come in much shorter than that at 126 minutes....

Scrubs star Donald Faison will play Professor Drake Utonium in The CW’s live-action reboot of the colorful cartoon series The Powerpuff Girls. The upcoming series, now simply titled as Powerpuff, was first announced by the network last year. Prior to Faison’s casting, the show had already found its three leads as well, as Powerpuff will star Chloe Bennet as Blossom, Dove Cameron as Bubbles, and Yana Perrault as Buttercup. Per Variety, Faison’s live-action take on Professor Drake Utonium is described as “quirky, debonair, and a pinch narcissistic....

El Rey Network, the general entertainment cable channel founded by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, announced plans today to greenlight a sophomore season of the network’s first scripted original, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series. Based on the cult classic film of the same name, Season 2 will be comprised of 13 hour-long episodes and will be shot in Austin, Texas, home to the filmmaker’s Troublemaker Studios. Marking Rodriguez’s first foray into television, the highly-anticipated program premiered in the US on El Rey Network on Tuesday, March 11th and premiered exclusively on Netflix through their run-of-series license in Canada, Ireland, Nordics, Netherlands, the UK and Latin America....

Rahul Kohli made serious waves with his excellent performance on the gone-but-not-forgotten CW show iZombie, but it arguably wasn’t until his work with modern maestro of horror Mike Flanagan that Kohli became well-known. He was excellent as Bly’s cook Owen Sharma in The Haunting of Bly Manor, and he blew everyone away when he played a sheriff in arguably the best horror series of 2021, Midnight Mass. Kohli is now headlining Mali Elfman’s largely unclassifiable film Next Exit, a kind of road trip ghost story about two mismatched individuals ride-sharing toward their assisted suicide for a massive experiment proving that ghosts exist....
