The upcoming Daria spin-off series has found its home, as Comedy Central has reportedly picked up the new animated series Jodie. News of the MTV Studios-produced sequel series was first announced last year, but it wasn’t clear if the show would be airing on MTV or on another network or streaming service. Because MTV has placed more of a focus on reality television over animated comedy shows in recent years, perhaps it will fit in a bit better at Comedy Central, where it will reportedly be paired alongside South Park....

As we have seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the multiverse is something that can bring about thrilling and exciting crossovers that were previously impossible in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, it looks like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may well be taking a leaf from that book with the recent round of reshoots that are wrapping up this week. According to new reports in The Hollywood Reporter, it looks like the Doctor Strange sequel may be adding new cameos in order to instigate a similar reaction that has seen Spider-Man: No Way Home open with one of the biggest weekend box offices ever despite cinemas still struggling with the ongoing Covid pandemic....

Don West, the former pro wrestling commentator who was one of the voices of Total Nonstop Action/Impact Wrestling for many years alongside Mike Tenay, has died following a battle with lymphoma. In 2021, West announced that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma of the brain and would be undergoing treatment. Though West fought to the very end, it was announced by Tenay on Friday that the television personality had died at the age of 59....

HBO Max has pulled the plug on Doom Patrol. It’s been revealed in a new report by THR that the series has been axed alongside fellow DC series Titans as plans continue to change for the future at DC Studios. Fans of Doom Patrol had suspected that the series could be getting canceled as current DC plans are phased out to make way for what James Gunn and Peter Safran have planned for the future of the DCU....

It seems that folks are making it a “dollar night” instead of a “Blockbuster night” in the DVD rental business. According to The Hollywood Reporter, business is booming for DVD rental kiosks like RedBox have captured 19% of the current DVD rental market and it should grow even more by next year. A study by the NPD Group that was released today stated that rental kiosks could take hold of 30% of the rental market by the end of 2010....

FilmDistrict has picked up U.S. rights to EuropaCorp’s Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace-starring sci-fi adventure Lockout, produced by Luc Besson. According to Variety, James Mather and Stephen St. Leger will direct from a script they co-write with Luc Besson. Peter Stormare and Tom Hollander also star. Set in the near future, Lockout tells the story of a falsely convicted ex-government agent (Guy Pearce) whose only chance of freedom is to accept a dangerous mission to rescue the president’s daughter (Maggie Grace) from rioting prisoners at an outer space maximum security prison....

Little Rudy from The Cosby Show all grown up and playing a hooker? Yes indeed, thanks to Tyler Perry. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Keshia Knight Pulliam will star as an imprisoned prostitute in Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail. Derek Luke also stars, along with Tamela Mann and David Mann. The Lionsgate comedy centers on Madea (Perry), whose penchant for trouble-making lands her behind bars. She comes to the rescue of Candy (Pulliam), a fellow inmate preyed upon by a large woman named Big Sal....

Actors Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser, and Craig Robinson have joined the cast of Freaky Deaky, an adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s novel of the same name. The story centers on two former activists and bomb-makers who use their explosive skills to con a drunk movie producer out of his fortune. William H. Macy has already committed to playing the movie producer, Woody Ricks. Matt Dillon is set for the lead role of Chris Mankowski, an LAPD bomb squad officer who uncovers the activists’ threat....
