FX is looking to broaden its comedy horizons with two brand new series created exclusively for the channel. The basic cable stalwart has ordered six episodes of the sitcom The League, which is scheduled to premiere in November, and thirteen episodes of Louie, which will debut in early 2010. Rumors have run rampant about what fans can expect from Steven Sommers when the director brings G.I. Joe to the big screen in August 2009. The producer for the film, Brian Goldner, recently sat down with MTV to address some of those rumors. Goldner, who is the Chief Operating Officer at Hasbro, also produced Transformers, directed by Michael Bay. Goldner’s first statement about the film was “G.I. The Weinstein Company (TWC) have partnered with Cheech Marin, Tommy Chong, and their managers Ben Feigin and Josh Klein to produce a concert movie to memorialize the comic duo’s reunion and first tour together in 25 years. The announcement was made today by Barry Gordon, executive vice president of home entertainment at TWC. As part of the arrangement, TWC has worldwide theatrical, home video, digital and television rights. The feature-length program, which will portray a live concert experience of the Cheech & Chong: Light Up America tour, is expected to make a major TV premiere, followed by the DVD release....

Just after the hiring of James Gunn and Peter Safran as co-heads of DC Films, it was announced that DC would be telling a long form, MCU-style story across its films, television shows, and other media. This would kick off with a Young Superman movie, written by Gunn. According to Variety, the homevid unit at 20th Century Fox is tripling its 2006 straight-to-DVD output with Dr. Doolittle 3, Like Mike 2 and Behind Enemy Lines 2. Paramount Digital Entertainment announced today their new comedy series Resident Advisors. Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect) and Max Handelman (Pitch Perfect) will executive produce through their Brownstone Productions banner, and Ira Ungerleider (Friends) has come aboard to shepherd the project as both executive producer and director along with Natalia Anderson who will produce the original comedy series based on a pilot script written by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Alex Reid. ABC has issued a put pilot commitment to a new TV series that will serve as a sequel to the 1998 action-thriller Enemy of the State. Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the original movie which starred Will Smith and Gene Hackman, will return to produce the TV series. A put pilot commitment generally leads to a series order, since the network will be forced to pay the producers a penalty if the pilot doesn’t air....
