Director Darren Aronofsky’s latest film, The Whale, has been receiving plenty of attention since its premiere at the Venice Film Festival back in September. While The Whale’s performances have gotten plenty of positive reception, the film itself has also been the subject of controversy for its representation of bigger-bodied individuals and its use of a fat suit for its star Brendan Fraser. In a recent interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, the cast of The Whale discussed their experiences working on the film....

David Carradine and Daryl Hannah reunite for the first time since their roles on the big screen in the two Kill Bill Volumes to star in the two-part original movie miniseries, Kung Fu Killer slated to premiere this August on Spike in HD. Set in late 1920s in China, before Communist rule, Kung Fu Killer tells the story of White Crane (Carradine), an orphaned son of Western missionaries who was raised as a Wudang monk to become a spiritual leader and master in martial arts, and his ultimate journey for revenge and justice....

John Lithgow is returning to Dexter for Showtime’s upcoming series revival for what is said to be a “short but decisive appearance.” Last year, it was officially announced that a new Dexter series was in the works with Michael C. Hall reprising his role as the titular serial killing vigilante. Clyde Phillips is also set to return as the showrunner for the 10-episode limited series. Various teasers for its release have since been released....

Olivia Wilde has a drastic sophomore slump with her second feature film. Don’t Worry Darling is a clunky patriarchal thriller with little mystery to an obvious plot. Themes of gender inequity and female subjugation are handled with a fire hose delivery. It’s pretty clear from the opening minutes where the narrative is heading. You then have to sit through a labored runtime for the protagonist to catch up. Bizarre imagery and sounds have the opposite intended effect....

DreamWorks has scooped up the film rights to the Oni Press comic book series The Damned and Courtney Crumrin Courtney Crumrin, an ongoing series written and illustrated by Ted Naifeh, revolves around a misfit who moves with her social-climbing parents into her uncle’s spooky mansion. While her parents strive for status in their new, swanky neighborhood, the oddly charming girl finds magic in her uncle’s library. The series consists of 12 comic books compiled into three graphic novels....

Captain Underpants is on its way to the big screen with Dreamworks planning a full length production of the children’s book series. The books revolve around a couple of precocious fourth graders named George Beard and Harold Hutchins. Looking to get back at nasty, student-hating principal Mr. Benny Krupp, the boys hypnotize the principal and cause him to become Captain Underpants. He’s a superhero who is nice and helpful to children and manages to get into all kinds of misadventures with the fourth graders shadowing him to make sure he doesn’t get hurt....

According to Variety, DreamWorks Animation is rounding out the cast of its upcoming CGI pic Kung Fu Panda. Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan and Ian McShane are set to join Jack Black in the animated comedy, which will be released in May 2008. Lucy Liu is in discussions to star. In the pic, Black stars as Po the Panda, the laziest of all the animals in the Valley of Peace. With powerful enemies at the gates, all hope is pinned on a martial arts hero to rise to save the day....

The saga of Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter has been the stuff of Hollywood plotlines, with twists and turns galore, but with seemingly no happy ending for some people. After months of will-he-won’t-he and a threat of legal battles, Musk finally took charge of the social media platform with unpopular changes to the “blue tick” feature and the layoff of thousands of employees. According to a report in the New York Times, one unnamed employee has drawn a likeness between the devastating mass clearing out of staff and the “Red Wedding” episode of Game of Thrones....

Universal Pictures has made some drastic moves to its 2011 release slate, bumping the sequel Fast Five up a few months from its June 10th bow to April 29th. This sudden shift occurred shortly after Paramount Pictures announced that it would release J.J. Abrams’ highly secretive alien zombie thriller Super 8 on June 10th as well. While it is apparent that Universal didn’t want to pit its favored franchise against Abrams untested, yet highly anticipated ode to all-things Steven Spielberg, the move was also made in consideration of Fast & Furious’ unexpected and hugely successful April release date back in 2009....

VH1 has given the go for another season of Flavor Flav’s Flavor of Love. Variety reports that 10 one-hour episodes have been ordered by the network for the second season, which has been named Flavor of Love 2. Flavor of Love, an offbeat version of dating series like The Bachelor, started out modestly on VH1 but later garnered impressive ratings and became the most watched show in the network’s history. The season finale raked in 6 million viewers....

Fox has ordered a third season of Kitchen Nightmares, the ultimate restaurant revival show, it was announced today by Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. During the third season, Michelin-starred Chef Gordon Ramsay will travel the country visiting restaurants that are in desperate need of his help. With Ramsay’s reputation on the line, he will demand absolute excellence and perfection from the owners as he gives them advice on everything from food and décor to customer service and staff changes....
