Fox announced today that the network has cancelled first-year comedies Dads, Enlisted, Surviving Jack and freshman drama series Rake. The news comes just one week after the network cancelled its sci-fi drama Almost Human. Dads, which was created by Ted director Seth MacFarlane and his co-writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, centers on two co-workers (Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi) whose lives are disrupted when their fathers (Peter Riegert and Martin Mull) move in with them....

FOX is inviting fans to design a promotional poster for FOX’s highly anticipated new series The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The Official Fan Poster Contest winner will win a trip for two to Los Angeles and have their poster revealed by cast members at the premiere party on Wednesday, January 9. The Good This is truly one of the greatest shows ever made. It is a revelation on DVD. The Bad I would have loved some straight commentary tracks with the creators or some fun ones with the Fraggles. I used to religiously watch Fraggle Rock when I was younger. This show with Gobo, Mokey, Wembley, Boober and Red captivated because me of how intelligent, yet kid friendly, it was. The Fraggles live underground in their own world....

Netflix’s Black Mirror: Bandersnatch has resulted in a massive lawsuit being brought against the streaming service. The movie was billed as a “choose your own adventure” tale, even though the company largely refrained from actually using that phrase in the marketing. However, Chooseco, the company that actually owns the trademark for the Choose Your Own Adventure book series, is now suing them for $25 million in damages. The lawsuit was recently filed in a Vermont court and alleges that Netflix has violated their trademark and has caused confusion in the marketplace over Bandersnatch....

For many fans of the Back To The Future franchise, the moment footage of Eric Stoltz’s version of Marty McFly was released, everyone agreed that it had been the right decision by Bob Gale and Robert Zemekis to do whatever it took to get their first choice actor Michael J. Fox into the role, one that turned out be a career defining moment for Fox and probably the saviour of the original 1985 movie....

Created by Dan Harmon, the sitcom Community ran for six seasons from 2009 to 2015. After many years of waiting and campaigning by fans, Community will return in 2023 with a full-length movie (via Variety). The TV series is set in the fictional city of Greendale, where seven characters from different backgrounds form a newfound family by becoming a community college study group. The iconic, main TV cast featured the likes of Donald Glover, Alison Brie, and Joel McHale, to name a few, all of whom portrayed equally lovable characters (minus, perhaps, Chevy Chase, who was fired before season 5)....

The Good This a good movie and I always welcome the chance to revisit it. The Bad Ultimately, I think that I was expecting more from this “Extended Cut.” Crimson Tide is presented in this release in an extended unrated cut. While I haven’t screened this film enough times to understand what is and isn’t in the different cuts, I can appreciate the pacing of this submarine thriller as things seem a little more deliberate....

The CW Network has handed out a pilot order for First Cut from 90210 producer Jennie Snyder. The story centers on a young female doctor, who is eager to enter the professional world and leave her geeky past behind. When she arrives for work at her new hospital, she quickly learns that this workplace setting is all too similar to high school. Jennie Snyder wrote the pilot script and will executive produce alongside Dan Jinks....

The Good Dallas just keeps coming out on DVD and we’re all better off because of that. The Bad Something tells me that they can do a better job with the extras.Things keep rolling along for the Ewing Family with Dallas: The Complete Eighth Season. I could go into a long discourse on what is happening with these characters, why they are doing the things they are doing, what is really going on under the surface, behind the scenes, etc....

It appears that Dark Side of the Ring isn’t moving forward at Vice. Last week, Vice announced their programming lineup for the 2022-23 season, and Dark Side of the Ring was noticeably absent. According to pro wrestling insider Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, this is because network declined to order a fourth season of the hit documentary series. The news comes as a bit of a surprise, as Dark Side of the Ring had become the most-watched series in Vice’s history....

Producer Dino de Laurentiis spoke to MTV and said that he is interested in making more “Hannibal Lecter” movies: Hannibal Rising, which is a prequel to the film Silence of the Lambs, will be released on February 9. You’d better break out some fava beans and a nice Chianti, because if Hannibal Rising super-producer Dino de Laurentiis has his way, the fourth story - five if you count remakes - about Hannibal Lecter is just beginning....

Doug Liman has signed on to direct Everest for Sony Pictures. We first reported on this project back in August 2009, when Sony acquired the rights to Jeffrey Archer’s book, Paths of Glory. Sheldon Turner is adapting the book, which centers on George Mallory, who tried to be the first man to scale Mount Everest in the 1920s. The movie will center on Mallory’s obsession with the mountain, and his rivalry with fellow climber George Finch....

Prepare for some sick sh*t in September! In a story from DVD Times, Genius Products and The Weinstein Company will be releasing Dirty Sanchez on September 11. Synopsis: MTV Films Europe and Vertigo Films partner to bring the Jackass-flavored MTV Europe series to the screen as director Jim Hickey follows a group of four daredevils who are challenged by the devil to discover and endure the seven deadly sins. A raunchy world tour of depravity and hilarity, Dirty Sanchez combines the extreme stunts of Johnny Knoxville and company with a narrative structure by telling the tale of a stunt gone horribly awry....

Big casting news has just been announced, as Walker Scobell has joined the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians to star in the lead role. The news, reported by Variety, follows Scobell impressing viewers and critics with his role as a younger version of Ryan Reynolds’ character in the Netflix movie The Adam Project. The feature also marked Scobell’s movie debut making the child actor an instant star with over 92 million hours spent by Netflix subscribers watching the film in its first weekend alone....

It is now less than two weeks until Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness unleashes its secrets and changes the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever. Now the cast has begun their global promotion tour ahead of the film’s arrival, and that means we should prepare for two weeks of question dodging, misdirection and denials from Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen and director Sam Raimi amongst others as they attempt to keep the mystery alive for another fortnight....

It is hard to believe the current era of Doctor Who has been on the air for 17 years. The original Doctor Who ran from 1963 to 1989, 26 years. Then it took a 16-year hiatus (with one made-for-TV movie attempt in 1996) until the franchise returned for a new generation in 2005. The new Doctor Who series introduced new characters, laid out a new status quo for the time-traveling alien known as the Doctor, as well as bringing back many iconic classic foes like the Daleks, the Cybermen, and the Master....

Will Smith’s career has been in a state of limbo ever since the infamous slap at the Oscars back in March. Many of his projects, including a National Geographic nature show and the Civil War drama Emancipation, were delayed, given how toxic he had become for the Academy. A sequel to Smith’s Bright was also canceled by Netflix weeks after, though it appears this was bound to happen anyway. However, after months of uncertainty, Emancipation has been given a release date by Apple TV+: it will come out this year, in time for the Oscars — though whether or not anyone will vote for Will Smith to win Best Actor is another question....

Emilia Clarke is opening up about her time baring it all on Game of Thrones and the pressures she faced in getting naked for the show. On a recent edition of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, Clarke appeared as a special guest to speak about her work on the hit HBO series and spent some time touching on filming nude scenes. Referencing her Season 1 nude scene in particular, Clarke suggests she wasn’t overly thrilled about stripping down for the show, but as a newcomer to the business, she presumed it must have been necessary....

Spoiler Warning: Shiva Baby 2020 was a tough year for movies. Though there was no shortage of great films, the pandemic left most major releases with two unpleasant options: bite the bullet and go straight to the streamers, or delay the release until theatrical exhibition becomes a reality again. If there was one major silver lining to this disruption in exhibition, it was the relative leveling of the playing field. When films are released in theaters (especially by major theatrical chains), the films that have the greatest mass appeal are given emphasis over movies that are more niche....
