Following in the footsteps of the successful and highly-acclaimed series Dexter, Weeds and Brotherhood, SHOWTIME has ordered 12 half-hour episodes of a stylish new comedy series, (as yet untitled) scheduled to premiere in August, it was announced by Robert Greenblatt, Showtime President of Entertainment. Set to begin production in Los Angeles in June the new series stars and is executive produced by Golden Globe-winning actor David Duchovny (The X Files). Co-starring alongside Duchovny are Natascha McElhone (The Truman Show, Laurel Canyon), Madeleine Martin (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Hope & Faith), Madeline Zima (The Nanny, A Cinderella Story), and Evan Handler (Sex and the City)....

Maverick Records will release the soundtrack to Death Proof – Quentin Tarantino’s half of the new exploitation movie double feature Grindhouse – on April 3rd, three days before the two films hit theaters on April 6th. The second film, Planet Terror, was directed by Robert Rodriguez. In between the two features, trailers advertising fake films, directed by Eli Roth and Rob Zombie, among others, will be shown. Death Proof follows Austin’s hottest DJ, Jungle Julia (Sydney Tamiia Poitier) as she sets out into the night to unwind with her two friends Shanna (Jordan Ladd) and Arlene (Vanessa Ferlito)....

Showtime’s Dexter revival has found its villain in veteran character actor Clancy Brown. He joins series lead Michael C. Hall who will be returning as the vigilante serial killer. The casting also marks a return to the Showtime network for Brown, who also played Waylon “Jock” Jeffcoat on the acclaimed series Billions. On Dexter, Clancy Brown will play Kurt Caldwell, a new character that will serve as the primary villain of the revival....

Several new details have now emerged concerning the upcoming surprise season 9 of the popular Showtime serial killer adventure, Dexter. Reportedly, the series will feature two prominent characters alongside the titular anti-hero, both of whom will be indigenous women. The search has now begun to cast the roles of Angela, who is in her forties and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Audrey. The characters are described as being of the Seneca Tribe, a group of indigenous Iroquoian-speaking people native to North America, with further details stating that Audrey is an “environmentalist” and “activist”....

Diane Kruger is stepping in to replace Eva Green in Benoît Jacquot’s adaptation of Chantal Thomas’ novel, Farewell, My Queen, reports The Playlist. Diane Kruger joins Léa Seydoux and Gérard Depardieu in the film, and will play Marie Antoinette with Léa Seydoux as a reader to her royal majesty during the final days of the French Revolution. The book’s synopsis: Production begins next spring. As revolution rages outside the palace walls, inside the court of Versailles–the court of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI–denial reigns before giving way to alarm, which in turn degenerates into panic and chaos....

October 30, 2012, marks a historic day in movie history. People woke up in a world with Star Wars was over and by the end of the day, they were looking at a future with endless possibilities. People were shocked by the news that Disney had purchased Lucasfilm Ltd. for a total of $4 billion dollars. The announcement of the purchase was quickly followed by the news that Disney was moving forward on a new Star Wars trilogy set after Return of the Jedi with the first entry aiming for a 2015 release date, and it would bring back Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher....

While the BBC hasn’t announced when Season 8 of Doctor Who will premiere, this season will usher in a new era, with Peter Capaldi starring as the 12th Doctor, after being introduced in the Christmas Special, “The Time of the Doctor”. Production is currently under way in Wales, and we have already gotten our first look at Peter Capaldi on the set with Jenna Coleman, along with a glimpse at his new costume last month....

On October 13th, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will finally release Ron Howard’s classic holiday tale Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas on Blu-ray with a whole array of special features. Starring Jim Carrey, this two-disc edition (which also includes a copy of the standard DVD) will retail for $26.98 SRP. Inside a snowflake, high atop Mt. Enter the Dragon is being remade by Warner Independent Pictures as a noir thriller. According to Variety, The Shield executive producer Kurt Sutter will be making his feature directing debut with the film, currently entitled Awaken the Dragon. Sutter is also writing the script, which will be a contemporary drama that follows a lonely F.B.I. agent into the bloody world of underground martial arts fighting. There, he must track a renegade Shaolin monk who has been causing a lot of problems for the local police force....

It is official. Barbie Ferreira is not returning to the third season of Euphoria. One of the breakout stars of the show, and a fan favourite, Ferreira played the role of Katherine “Kat” Hernandez, a teenager who fervently writes erotica on the down-low as she grapples with notions of desirability and bodily autonomy. While Euphoria has always been a story about misfits who don’t even fit among themselves, Ferreira was one of the core cast members of the show and with her gone, Euphoria will definitely be losing an interesting perspective....

John Cusack and Joan Cusack are a pair of famous Hollywood siblings who have each built incredible on-screen careers for themselves. Indeed, since the 80s, both Joan and John have played some of the most iconic characters in pop culture today, from Joan’s overworked Principal Roz Mullins in School of Rock to John’s Rob Gordon in the rom-com classic High Fidelity (which happens to be on our list below). Benicio Del Toro has the perfomance of his career in Director Steven Soderbergh’s two-film epic of revolutionary guerilla, Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara. There are two, two and a half hour films, with a twenty minute intermission between them. The first is Che (Part 1): The Argentine, a brilliant war film about the actual military operation to overtake Cuba in 1956. The second film is Che (Part 2): Guerrilla, which portrays Che’s exploits in Bolivia in 1967 until his death....

Ben Kingsley and Penelope Cruz smolder on screen in Elegy, the film adaptation of Phillip Roth’s The Dying Animal. Kingsley stars as David Kepesh, an art critic/teacher who is a serial seducer of women, particularly his students.
